Thank You – Pahrump Balloon Festival

Pahrump balloon festival Dear Glen Lerner,

I would like to thank you for sponsoring myself along with my friend for the hot air balloon ride during the festival that happened here in Pahrump. It was an invigorating experience.

Thanks to you, not only I, but other homeless youth were able to experience how beautiful the town is from in the sky. We went up in the balloon named Top Of The Mornin’ and the pilot was amazing. I was able to fulfill a dream of mine and that means the world to me.

Thank you again for the experience.

Sincerely,
R.C.

Glen Lerner Sponsors USA Basketball Outreach In Illinois

IMG_4105
Tom Grace, one of the attorneys at Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys’ office in Chicago, has been working with young basketball players at the Salvation Army Cross Generations Community Center on Burr Oak Avenue in Blue Island since January 2016. Tom has coached youth basketball for eight years and shares his knowledge with both players and coaches at the Center.
“Coaching kids is very rewarding to me,” says Tom Grace. “At times, I coach small groups of kids and at other times, I coach individual boys and girls.” “Overall, I have coached over 20 different players from the area.” Tom continued, “I had a chance to connect with many of the kids and really enjoyed the opportunity to share my knowledge of the game.” Tom works with D. Towers, a long time personal trainer at the Center, who is devoted to the development of the basketball talent in the Blue Island area. Tom assists other coaches, like Dervel and Marlon Jackson with Jackson Community Services and the youth basketball teams that they organize.
Josh Polanco, the former Captain at the Center, made the connection with Lt. Bersabe Vera, the Corp Officer / Pastor at the Center and had the idea of putting Tom’s passion for coaching to good use. Josh, a minister, has been volunteering his time in the Blue Island area for many years and often leads church services at the Center. Josh is now the Community Outreach Coordinator with the Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys. Josh, based in the law firm’s Elgin office, organizes community events sponsored by the law firm all across Chicagoland.

Recently, D. Towers organized a team from the Center to compete in a USA Basketball 3 on three tournaments on March 25, 2016, at the Southland Center in Lynwood and invited Tom to coach the team. The team consisted of 4 freshmen and sophomores from the Blue Island area and who regularly play at the Center in Blue Island. Of course, Tom jumped at the chance to coach.

USA Basketball hosted the tournament. Ten teams competed in a double elimination tournament for a chance to move on and compete on a regional and national basis, and ultimately for an opportunity to represent the United States in international play. Glen Lerner Injury Attorneys paid the entry fee, and Tom coached the team. The team finished second in the tournament. To get the Championship game, the team came back in the last two minutes to tie the game and got a critical stop on defense to force overtime. In overtime, they pushed ahead and won the game. A great comeback victory. The boys fought hard but ultimately lost in Championship game to a group of older and very talented players.
The players on the team got a chance to see where basketball might take them and learned that hard work and dedication is necessary to get there. On any given Saturday morning, you may find Tom at the Center in Blue Island sharing his knowledge and passion for the game of basketball with local players and coaches.

-Connecting clients with HIV specialists in various fields of medicine
-Prevention education, including weekly seminars for clients and providers, as well as community outreach initiatives
-Taxi vouchers and bus passes for transportation to healthcare providers
-Rent and utility assistance

For AIDS Walk Las Vegas’ 26th anniversary, Penn & Teller are challenging walkers to raise at least $250. If you achieve this minimum goal, Penn and Teller will match your fundraising dollar for dollar!* If you want a shot at doubling your contribution, join the Penn & Teller Challenge when you register!

*Penn & Teller Challenge donations will be matched until the maximum amount is reached.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Last year, more than 6,000 people walked with us to raise awareness for the cause. We invite you to walk with your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, or alongside the thousands of other members of our community who come together to show their support.

Every donation counts, no matter the amount. Our online registration website has great fundraising ideas to help get you started, or you may share your unique idea(s) to help motivate and inspire others to reach their goals. Aim high and be creative, passionate and persistent – your success may surprise you! Invite your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to join you and/or sponsor you for AIDS Walk Las Vegas. Also, many companies will match your contributions through a Matching Gift Program. Check with your employer and encourage your donors/sponsors to do the same.

Although medical advances have improved and prolonged many people’s lives over the last few decades, the need for AFAN’s services continues to be crucial. In 1984, the founders of AFAN did not imagine that there would still be a need to advocate for our clients 30 years later. So much has been accomplished of which we should all be proud, yet as we know, there is still much to be done. Your support, hard work and generosity will allow us to continue our mission.

#TEAMTURKEY FREE Thanksgiving Event

How Did #TEAMTURKEY Start?

Two days after the “idea” of #TEAMTURKEY hit social media, major Las Vegas movers and shakers stepped up to help turn the idea of #TEAMTURKEY into a reality.

As the main event sponsors, Glen Lerner and his family volunteered to purchase 400 turkeys for the event. Additionally, members of our Las Vegas legal team are donating their time to help make the #TEAMTURKEY an event to remember. Continue reading #TEAMTURKEY FREE Thanksgiving Event
